Abstract:
Currently, non-destructive evaluation develop in three directions: improvement of known and applied research methods, implementation of new methods and application of artificial intelligence to support a process of examination itself and assessment of quality of an tested element, the third direction of development will be discussed in detail in this paper. There are two concepts of intelligence: Hierarchical and Equivalent. Regardless of what concept, human intelligence may be divided into two groups: Computational and Non-computational. Computational intelligence may be described by means of algorithm, while we are not able to describe non-computational intelligence by means of algorithm. Therefore, artificial intelligence systems may only apply computational intelligence. An example of application of artificial intelligence, which only used computational intelligence, in non-destructive evaluation of weld quality is discussed, the indirect method, artificial neural networks method and fuzzy logic method were presented, and their characters were concluded.
