Abstract:
Thermal Neutron radiography(TNR) is a useful and nondestructive method for in situ investigation of macroscopic changes inside the lithium-ion batteries during electrochemical cycling. The principles and favorable properties of TNR is introduced in brief, and then the progresses of application of TNR for research in lithium-ion cells are reviewed, including in situ measurement of the movement and distribution of lithium ions, the consumption of electrolyte, the gas evolution rate and spatial distribution, etc. The possibility of application of TNR at this field in China in the future is also discussed.
