Abstract: Through integrated application of nondestructive testing technique, the suspicious acoustic echo from the root pass of seam after the erected joints between hull blocks was analyzed and evaluated. The defect properties correlated with the suspicious acoustic echo and its qualitative reliability were analyzed by various testing methods, such as X-ray, magnetic particle testing and so on, which provided an evidence for root microcrack inspection and improvement of welding technique.
