Abstract: Conventional testing techniques in China on large vertical storage tanks were briefly analyzed. Several advanced testing methods, such as on line acoustic emission testing, magnetic flux leakage testing, and low frequency eddy current testing and so on, were introduced to inspect and evaluate the integrity of these tanks. Otherwise, a recommended practice for inspecting and evaluating large vertical storage tanks with these advanced testing methods was put forward, and possible benefit and prospect from the near future application of these techniques were expected.
