Abstract:
Traditional electric resistance and vibration wire strain sensors are difficult to satisfy engineering demand for corrosive resistance, anti-interference and durability. One new project for monitoring stress of pipelines in service using fiber bragg grating(FBG) sensing technology was proposed. Based on the theory of fiber bragg grating sensors, the pipeline stress monitoring and prediction system by FBG was constructed. At the same time, 96 strain sensors and 10 temperature sensors had been successfully installed on the surfaces of critical equipment pipelines in certain terminal. The sensors installation, optical cable laying and the corresponding points for attention during the engineering construction were described in detail. The practical application validated the feasibility for monitoring pipeline stress by using FBG and the detailed implementation scheme. The monitoring data showed the reliability of the monitoring system and the real-time early warning of the pipeline stress safety caused by soft soil ground settlement. The monitoring system has an extensive application prospect.
