Abstract: This paper introduces two easily confused concepts in the settings of PipeWizard ultrasonic automatic detecting system for pipeline girth weld manufactured by Olympus Corporation. The physical significance of time and amplitude gates and their setting methods are also presented and the possible problems confronted are further elaborated. The errors easily subjected during practical work process and their identification methods are described.
