Abstract:
Titanium and titanium alloy are used in manufacture of aircraft engines and structural components. However, there is limited research both domestically and internationally on the optimal inspection methods and recommended sensitivity for penetrant testing of drum parts made from TA15 titanium alloy cold-rolled plates. Therefore, superficial microcracks on TA15 titanium alloy cold rolled plate was inspected by dye penetrant inspection and different sensitivity fluorescent penetrant inspection methods, and the results were contrastively analyzed combining to the results of the micro metallographic examination to microcracks. The best inspection method and sensitivity level were suggested. The conciusion could provide important data support for the selection of penetrant testing process for other parts with microcracks.
