Abstract:
To address issues related to defect detection, accurate quantification, and positioning in ultrasonic detection of austenitic welds, this paper utilized the CIVA software platform to create a model of thick-walled austenitic stainless steel welds. The imaging modes of thick-walled austenitic stainless steel welds using TRL area array probes were simulated and analyzed. The results indicated that TRL area array probes could effectively identify defects such as porosity, cracks, and sidewall non-fusion in the welds. By utilizing different imaging modes for various types of defects, the accuracy of positioning and quantification could be enhanced, offering valuable insights for developing a comprehensive total focusing imaging detection process for thick-walled austenitic stainless steel welds.
