Abstract: Phased array ultrasonic testing, radiography testing and conventional ultrasonic testing were used to examine the pipe butt girth weld for duplex stainless steel with dimension of φ 610 mm×46 mm. The results of three methods were summarized, analyzed and compared to verify the reliability of phased array ultrasonic testing. The examination results show that phased array ultrasonic testing can be used for on-site examination on pipe butt girth weld for duplex stainless steel and has good detection capability.
