Abstract:
For effective detection of the position and the size of defects in aircraft aluminum honeycomb composite and for the evaluation of the damage degree of the defects, laser displacement speckle detection methods were tested for the presence of defects and defect position, whereas the acoustic resistance detecting method was used for the evaluation of defect size. Experimental results show that laser displacement speckle detection can quickly locate aircraft aluminum honeycomb composite materials defect position, but the precision is not so high. Acoustic resistance test can carry on the accurate detection and evaluation for defect position, and hence the combination of the two kinds of detection methods was performed to improve the reliability of test results and accuracy. It lays a foundation for further inspection and evaluation of the defects of aluminum honeycomb composites.
