Abstract: This paper is to summarize the requests of two main references on ultrasonic butt weld inspection at the stage of manufacturing, the RCC-M(2004 edition) and the ASME(2007 edition). Some differences based on the UT equipment requirements, scanning requirements, sensitivity evaluations and acceptance levels are summarized. And these comparison results will be very beneficial for an accurate understanding and application of different standards.
