Abstract: TOFD (Time of Flight Diffraction) and phased array ultrasonic flaw detection technique were used for quantifying cracks on the interior surface of the spherical tank girth welds, and it was found that the combination of the two techniques might provide more accurate data for defect repair and was possibly the most effective aid for defect quantification.
