Abstract:
To know the detectability of eddy current array testing technology for the uniform surface of the austenite stainless steel, the testing results of the uniform surfaces of 2 austenite stainless steel work piece were analyzed and compared with the ones of solvent-removal dye penetrate testing. The result shows that, for the testing of the uniform surface of austenite stainless steel, eddy current array technology can be used to estimate the depth of the surface-breaking shallow defect, and has better detectability for the surface-breaking shallow defects and the subsurface defects with a small buried depth than that of solvent-removal dye penetrate testing technology; the former has the lower defect resolution power but higher contrast and defect detectability than the latter for the surface-breaking stress corrosion cracking.
