Phased Array Ultrasonic Inspection of Boss Welds in Nuclear Power Plant

  • 摘要: BOSS头焊缝(管座角焊缝)广泛应用于核电厂管道系统中,在现场排查中常会发现大量缺陷。对其的检测方法中,目前采用的射线和渗透检测方法均存在一定的局限性。结合核电厂典型的BOSS头焊缝结构形式和成型工艺,开发了针对性的相控阵检测工艺。在人工缺陷试块和核电厂现场BOSS头焊缝上进行了检测试验,并与射线检测结果进行了对比。结果表明,所开发的相控阵超声检测工艺能够有效检出核电厂BOSS焊缝内表面缺陷,现场应用的检测结果与射线检测结果有一定区别,但对较大缺陷均能够检出。
    Abstract: Boss welds (Branch pipe fillet welds) were widely used in nuclear power pipeline systems, and many defects were found during pre/in-service inspections of the welds. At present, there are some limitations in the radiation and penetration testing. In this paper, we developed a phased array inspection process by combining the structure and processing of the typical BOSS welds in a nuclear power plant. The test was carried out on the artificial defect test block and on-site BOSS welds of the nuclear power plant, and the results were compared with the X-ray examination results. It was found that the developed phased array ultrasonic detection technology could effectively detect the inner surface defects of BOSS weld in nuclear power plant. The results of field application are different from those of radiographic detection, but the larger defects can be detected.
