Abstract:
In this paper, a method of damage evaluation based on curvature modal parameters was proposed to detect delamination defects of the composite laminates caused during the processing or service process. Firstly, based on the finite element method, the vibration behavior of the composite laminates was simulated for delamination damages of different locations and damage degree. Then, the central difference method was used to calculate the uniform load surface (ULS) curvature and mode curvature respectively. Based on the curvature parameter, the delamination defect can be identified by using difference method. Number of numerical results show that the delamination defects can be detected effectively in the composite laminate from vibration signals by using the ULS curvature and mode curvature, and the size of damage identification index will be affected by the location of damage in different layers.
