Abstract:
C-scan of bottom echo amplitude and the C-scan of velocity of the TC18 titanium alloy forging were compared. Result showed C-scan of velocity contained more information. Theoretical calculation shows that velocity reflects crystal orientation in direction of ultrasonic propagation. C-scan of velocity revealed difference of crystal orientation in TC18 forgings. Orientation distribution coefficients (ODCs) of samples from different position in C-scan of velocity were measured by bulk ultrasonic method. Result shows that difference of the ODCs was obvious. Difference of texture in TC18 forgings would be reflected by using image of velocity ultrasonic in single direction.
