Abstract:
In order to meet the demand of rapid detection of the pipe cracks, a system of torsional guided waves consisting of existing instruments in laboratory to detect pipe is designed. Meanwhile, the frequency response characteristic of the system was tested and the artificial defect along the circumferential direction of sample pipe was detected. The system excited and received the torsional mode guided waves successfully. The results showed that the system could detect and locate the crack in the circumferential direction of the sample pipe, which provided a reference value for generating and receiving the torsional mode guided waves and detection of cracks in the pipe.
