Phased Array Ultrasonic Technology Optimization for Electro-Fusion Joint of Polyethylene Pipe

  • 摘要: 电熔焊接是聚乙烯管道的主要连接方式之一,针对聚乙烯电熔焊接头的超声相控阵检测,利用CIVA软件对相控阵声场进行建模仿真,优化分析相控阵参数;根据优化后的相控阵参数研制探头,并进行聚乙烯管道电熔接头的检测试验.试验表明,研制的探头在合适的工艺参数条件下可以有效地检测出电熔接头的典型缺陷,提高了聚乙烯管道系统的本质安全性.
    Abstract: Electro-fusion welding is a widely-used method of connecting polyethylene (PE) pipe.Considering typical characteristics of PE and special structure of PE electro-fusion joint,a nondestructive testing method of phased array ultrasonic technique was presented and the focusing performances of phased array acoustic field were analyzed.Following acoustic field simulation by CIVA software,the optimization analysis was conducted to determine the optimal phased array parameters,including array elements,array element size,deflection angle,ultrasonic frequency,etc.Special phased array probe was manufactured with the optimal parameters obtained previously,and experiments were performed to prove the effectiveness of the proposed technique.Results indicated that this technique could effectively detect typical defects in PE electro-fusion joints and ensure the safety of PE pipeline.
