Ultrasonic Inspection of Full Penetration T-Butt Structure Welds on Hull

The ultrasonic inspection is the most important method of testing full penetration T-butt structure weld on hull. On the base of illustrating normal defects of T-butt weld, selection of testing probe, instrument, reference block, scanning method and sensitivity were put forward. The methods of estimating echo signals and accessing non-harmful defects were also discussed.
