Pulsed Eddy Current Testing for Cracks in Multilayered Metal Structures Based on GMR Sensor

    • This paper used giant magnetoresistance (GMR) sensor to design a pulsed eddy current probe. A square-shaped coil was used to generate a transient field and the horizontal component of the magnetic field was measured with GMR sensor. The experimental results showed that cracks of different depth in multilayered metal structure were detected effectively by the pulsed eddy current testing system based on GMR sensor.
