Necessity of Using Angle Probe to Detect Stainless Cladding

    • In ultrasonic testing of austenitic stainless cladding, angle beam probes were generally used to detect sub-cladding reheat cracks. As material and welding technology improved, these cracks are rarely found now. So some codes and standards do not require using angle beam to detect cladding. This paper introduced some type defects found by angle beam and emphasized that it was necessary to use angle beam to detect cladding.
