Requirement of UT Weld Qualification Examinations for Specimens Discontinuities in ISO 9712:2012

The requirement for specimen discontinuities in UT testing qualification examinations according to ISO 9712:2012 was descirbed in this article. Comparisons were made between this requirement and others used in local standards and norms. It was proposed that the examination specimens must be of high reliability and repeatability due to its role in qualifying the NDT candidates. Based on the requirement of ISO 9712:2012, a high level of requirement was built up to create conditions for promoting the global mutual recognition of NDT personnel. We hope this article can be of benefit for other local Qualficaiton Bodies.
