Phased Array Ultrasonic Inspection for Piping Girth Welds

This article describes an ecoded, manually-driven phased array ultrasonic testing equipment and a series of procedures for inspecting piping girth welds, including the method principles, the system components, the examination essentials and the attaianable results. The phased array approach offers improvements in speed, coverage and reliability. The intention is to provide reference for application of this new technology in China.
