The Impact of Weld Reinforcement on Ultrasonic Testing

    • In ultrasonic testing, the interference echoes caused by different forms of weld reinforcement were common interference signals. No matter how oblique the angle probe was, the variable angle echoes and interference echoes of reinforcement possibly existed. Facing these echoes whose locations, located by common method, were near fusion line or within base material, it was essential to observe the weld shape carefully, re-adjust the probe angle, and to utilize two side bilaterally test and accurate location analysis. If necessary, it was needed to grind welds to avoid misjudgments.
