The Limitations of Penetration Testing of Aero Engine Parts

This paper discusses the limitation of penetrant testing method.It was found that some visually observed cracks on the thin-walled gear were undetected by fluorescent penetrant testing.Through a series of experiment and analysis,we have found out the cause of the failure and proposed a method supported by loading penetrant testing and eddy current testing to improve the detection performance.This paper can also serve as a guide for the same kind of parts detection.
