Pulsed Remote Field Eddy Current Simulation of Double-Casing Pipeline Based on Magnetic Field Measurement

    • Pulsed remote field eddy current testing (PRFEC) is an emerging electromagnetic nondestructive testing (ENDT) technique, which plays a vital role in noninvasive evaluation of ferromagnetic pipeline. The mechanism of PRFEC and PRFEC of wall-thinning as well as localized corrosion in double-casing pipeline is intensively investigated via finite element analysis (FEA). Based on the study, magnetic-field-measurement-based PRFEC of double-casing pipeline is proposed. It has been found that the PRFEC responses acquired at different positions in the remote-field zone to wall-thinning and localized corrosion in internal and external pipe casings are distinguishing, which benefits the localization and quantitative evaluation of wall-thinning and localized corrosion in double-casing pipeline.
