The Application of Kaiser Effect in the Defect Assessment of Pressure Vessels

    • A new method using acoustic emission technology to determine the defect origin of pressure vessels found in regular inspection was developed. Depending on the acoustic emission during the hydraulic pressure test, it could be determined whether the defect was originally formed or not with the help of Kaiser effect principle. The safety assessment of pressure vessels based on fracture mechanics would be more reliable by the use of the method.
