Acoustic Emission Testing Technique for Atmospheric Storage Tanks

Acoustic emission(AE) testing technique can be used in evaluating corrosion status. The generating mechanism and propagating process of AE signals are discussed in the paper. An experiment on the AE sources location, wave velocity calculation and signal attenuation is carried out in liquid medium (Water). Methods of AE signal analysis and testing result evaluation are presented. An engineering example of AE testing for storage tank is given also.
