    Ultrasonic Guided Waves Testing of Steel Tube Tower Corrosion

    • Study was made of steel tube tower corrosion inspection by guided waves testing with the simulation and reference test blocks. The testing technology was developed by guided waves propagation character of the end face, probes choice of different tube thickness, and defect location and quantification. The results showed that ultrasonic guided waves testing technique was effective to the corrosion inspection,especially in the underground. The technology may detect the corrosion pit whose thickness was not more than twenty percent of wall thickness (the minimum depth of the corrosion pit was 2mm).
