  • This paper chooses the nuzzle welds with particular structure of 60.5 m multi-purpose offshore support vessels manufactured by a company as the object under investigation. By making the reference test blocks and carrying on the experiment, the feasibility investigation of conventional ultrasonic testing to this kind of welds is discussed. Experimental results showed that the conventional ultrasonic testing was used only for subsidiary means, and was not recommended as a main method for the nuzzle weld and similar structures.
