Advanced ultrasonic testing application in the manufacturing of nuclear island main equipment

    • The advanced ultrasonic testing technologies, including time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD) testing, phased array ultrasonic testing, and total focusing method (TFM) ultrasonic testing, offer advantages such as high detection sensitivity, recordable and offline analyzable data, intuitive defect visualization, and rapid inspection speed. These technologies have broad application prospects in the manufacturing of nuclear island main equipment. The article presented relevant case studies on the application of advanced ultrasonic testing technologies in the manufacturing process of nuclear island main equipment. It demonstrated both the strengths and limitations of these technologies in detecting different types of inspection targets and defects, aiming to promote their proper application in the nondestructive testing of civil nuclear safety equipment.
