Shielding effect of shallow-buried steel bar in concrete on radar detection

    • Using sand box to simulate concrete, considering the diameter, spacing, depth and horizontal position of steel bars, the influence of shallow-buried steel bar shielding on radar detection is studied. Based on the experimental analysis, the shielding influence zone in different diameter of the shallow-buried steel bar and center distance is obtained under the condition of different target depth. Combined with the basic theory of electromagnetic wave, the treatment method of detecting concrete defects by radar under the shallow steel bar is proposed. Combined with an engineering example, considering the disadvantage of dense shallow steel bars, by detecting the location of shallow steel bars in advance and optimizing the detection scheme, the testing method suitable for this project is given.
