The Ultrasonic Examination Process Improvement for Full-Penetration Corner Weld of Small Diameter Pipes on Steam Generator

    • Because of the geometric limitation and big curvature of small diameter pipes, the conventional ultrasonic examination process for their full-penetration corner weld has some shortcoming. The author has improved the conventional process by designing new ultrasonic probes and applying inner scanning method from pipes inside. The new process is tested on simulation pipes to prove its feasibility and it shows that this method can avoid the conventional method's shortcoming.
