Pipeline Corrosion Evaluation Technology and the Comparison of Detection Method

    • Aiming at the problem of pipeline stress corrosion and hydrogen induced cracking, the corrosion evaluation model and its corresponding sensitivity were analyzed through the investigation of foreign pipelines. Because the applicability of existing standards and evaluation methods for weld defects is not clear, it is proposed that the need for the domestic stress corrosion cracking evaluation standard by means of case analysis is imminent. The construction and development of hydrogen pipeline causes HIC gradually expanded, which needs a system research. Combined with the Shaan-Jing gas pipeline management practice, through the comparison of the phased array and ray detection, it was found that the corrosion defect assessment mainly is performed for volume defects, while the weld assessment needs to be further studied. The comparative analysis of array and X-ray detection showed that the two methods cannot replace each other, and each of them has advantages and disadvantages. They should be combined for the detection of internal corrosion, impurities and cracks.
