Numerical Analysis of Electromagnetic Acoustic Emission

Abstract
Electromagnetic acoustic emission technique (EMAE) is a recently developed non-destructive test technique.This technique allows a structure to be loaded locally by applying an electromagnetic field in order to produce an AE response,which may be captured by conventional AE sensors.In this paper,the current,the electromagnetic force and the deformation of EMAE are analyzed using the finite element model and ANSOFT Maxwell of EMAE.The distribution of Lorentz force was deduced and the feasibility of acoustic emission induced by eddy current was demonstrated.
